Ashton is from a well to do, upper middle class family. She grew up in a loving family, huge house, and after graduating high school, she was to continue the family legacy of being a Hokie at Virginia Tech.
Akram is from a similar socio-economic background. His parents did more of the struggling, coming from Egypt. He grew up in Arlington, with the expectations to do well. He is Muslim, but you would never tell by just talking to him. Akram was also VT bound, pursuing engineering.
Ashton and Akram met through mutual friends one day at a party. Neither ever thought it would be more than one night of dancing. Well, one thing led to another and over the course of a year, they were inseparable and in love. Neither one of them made things official, not because of what their friends would think, but because of what their parents would say.
Ashton's preppy Presbyterian upbringing and Akram's strict Muslim parents would never allow it, even though neither one of them practices their faith. In their own generation, no one could tell they didn't belong.
After a year of title struggles, neither one of them was willing to make that jump. Their love is still deep within one another but not able to express it is going to hinder these hearts forever.
