Heather Morris

If you watch Glee, then you will love this video. It is "Britney" aka Heather Morris, dancing better then ever.
I don't think she really has had the time to shine on the show. Personally think they need to showcase her dancing abilities more because they are really amazing.

New Addiction

So with finals coming up and the semester winding down, I have found a new obsession. It is completely addicting and distracting, well for me at least.

I remember this being one of the only video games I liked as a kid and I love that I rediscovered it. So avoid homework and enjoy.

Food Gawker

http://foodgawker.com/#

So I was recently talking to a friend and she was telling she has cut back her eating to one meal a day. We were arguing about it and she told me it was okay because her food needs were satisfied because of this website. It literally just shows you pictures of really tasty food. You can specify what you want to look at by categories or just randomize it. It is insane. It made me more hungry than it did satisfied.

Strawberry Street Cafe

The Strawberry Street Cafe is a small but delicious restaurant on Grace and Strawberry St. It offers daily specials and on Tuesdays they give 20% off to students. There is a salad bar with much more than regular salad fixings and an extensive menu so you can please anyone you go with. The price is great for the amount of food you get too. It is just all around perfect for dates, parents visiting, or just a meal with friends. I highly recommend it!

Friday

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5Asg5ww_Iw

In class we talked about Rebecca Black's song Friday. I am pretty sure it is a general consensus that it is a horrible song and pretty painful to listen to. It has spread so much in the past few weeks that comedians have started to take notice. Stephen Colbert did a "cover" to this YouTube tragedy on Jimmy Fallon's show. Personally, I think this version is much more entertaining.

Frat Life

I am not saying this is like any specific Frat at VCU or any school. It is just a funny stereotype that was done. My personal favorite part of the video is when the guy is chugging water and he says "that was vodka". These kids must not go to class because they have way too much time on their hands to make this.

Music!

If you like to just put Pandora on in the background and go about your life, this site is a great alternative. You can search how underground or well known you want the bands to be, which is good for searching out new music. You can also just leave the homepage up and it randomly shuffles softer alternative songs and it gives you a little sentence overview of the artist.

Write a story about two people who are in love, but don't belong together.

This is no Romeo and Juliet tale. This is a story about two college students who had rarely faced adversity alone but together, it was seemingly atomic.

Ashton is from a well to do, upper middle class family. She grew up in a loving family, huge house, and after graduating high school, she was to continue the family legacy of being a Hokie at Virginia Tech.

Akram is from a similar socio-economic background. His parents did more of the struggling, coming from Egypt. He grew up in Arlington, with the expectations to do well. He is Muslim, but you would never tell by just talking to him. Akram was also VT bound, pursuing engineering.

Ashton and Akram met through mutual friends one day at a party. Neither ever thought it would be more than one night of dancing. Well, one thing led to another and over the course of a year, they were inseparable and in love. Neither one of them made things official, not because of what their friends would think, but because of what their parents would say.

Ashton's preppy Presbyterian upbringing and Akram's strict Muslim parents would never allow it, even though neither one of them practices their faith. In their own generation, no one could tell they didn't belong.

After a year of title struggles, neither one of them was willing to make that jump. Their love is still deep within one another but not able to express it is going to hinder these hearts forever.

Pointless, But Funny

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVW2BpcMnbo&feature=

I was just searching random YouTube videos instead of doing homework and I came across this one. It is just really funny, like I cracked up for like 5 minutes. It may have something to do with me being easily amused, but it will make you smile.

Speech

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z8gCZ7zpsQ

At the 2009 VMA's, Kanye West jumped on stage and pretty much ruined Taylor's moment by saying that Beyonce deserved it more. It was not necessarily a "good" speech but it created a lot of controversy and gave Kanye a bad name. I personally liked this moment because it is obvious that Taylor's song "Mean" is about this incident. I love Taylor Swift and anything that makes her write more songs.

Friend Priorities

Soo I know the point of college is to find your lifelong friends and make new experiences with new people, but sometimes you can't beat your friends from home. I come from a very close group of friends that have been together since 7th grade. We have no reservations with each other and have a complete understanding of where who each other is. I hear of people that haven't even met some of their "best friends" parents. Maybe I just got really lucky by finding a group of 6 girls (ones not up there) that have the same loyalty values that I do. It also might be an inhibitor because sometimes I don't feel the need to make a big effort to make new best friends because I am extremely happy with the ones I already have. I mean it doesn't stop me from being nice to people and making regular friends, just not making that extra effort to go from friends to best friends.

So my decision seems pretty obvious, but if you had to choose between the friends you've made in college or your ones from home. Could you?

I watch too much SVU

"Hey, Have you seen Josh lately?"
"No...Not in a few days. Why?"
"I just think it's weird that no one has talked to him all week."
"I mean, maybe he has just been busy lately.."
"True. I think I'm overreacting"
               "You are."

-One Week Later-

"I knew I wasn't being annoying. We should have said something earlier."
"It's not like this was really expected."
"I just felt like we could have stopped it. I had no idea things could get this bad."
"Well, he is paying his price and we will see him in 12 years when he is out."
"No I won't. I will never talk to that pedophile freak ever again."

Marcel the Shell...With Shoes On

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF9-sEbqDvU

If anyone has seen this video, you have to. It is the most mindless 3 minutes you will spend, but it is worth it. I thought it was dumb at first, then found myself laughing at all the stupidness. You will want a piece of lint to drag around, promise.

In defense of...

Yes. In defense of Justin Bieber.

I absolutely love him and everything he has done. I really do not like how a lot of people call him a girl or a 13 year old. First off, who didnt look young at 16. Secondly, if anyone saw the Super Bowl commercial he makes fun of himself for his girlish look. If anyone saw the movie, you would know that he is extremely grounded and really humble. He did not have the backing of Disney or Nickelodeon to make him what he is. Just his hard work and the support of a great team. He literally built a mega-million career in one year. A lot of sceptics don't know his story or have not read interviews from him or the people that work with him. He is a normal annoying 16 year old that has had some fortunate breaks and a lot of talent. It seems crazy sitting here trying to defend a pop star, but I think he gets a lot of unfair comments cutting him down as a person and musican. Last time I checked, being able to play drums, guitar, piano, and trumpet, made you a musician. In this months Rolling Stone, he gets very real about his opinions of some big topics, and he does not hold back. His answers aren't well thought out, just honest. I think this is the way he sets up all his interviews, just his real opinions. So leave him alone. He is precious, talented, and not leaving the business anytime soon, so deal.

Please Stop

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0sMajI7tlM

Britney Spears was one of my childhood idols. She could sing, dance, dress well, and act. Well...that was my opinion when I was 10 and obsessed with Crossroads. Over the years her shaved head, failed marriages, child abuse, and all around trashy behavior has left a bad taste in my mouth. She should have stopped a long time ago so her old fan could remember her as a pop icon, not garbage. But she just couldn't stop and now it is worse than ever. Her new song "Hold it Against Me" makes her lack luster vocals so obvious and knowing her age, just really uncomfortable. So Brit, please stop and let me remember when I loved you during "Baby One More Time" days.

Fail

Sooo. I slightly failed on the no technology of choice for the day. I picked no Facebook. I didn't get on it on a physical computer but I did on my phone. I think I made it a whole 8 hours. Its really bad. I thought it was possible but I guess not. Next time I think I will try to not get on Facebook in time intervals. Like "I'll only stay on it for an hour total today" then less and less. Hopefully it will work, just need to get the will power to make it happen.

Plunge

When I was two years old my cousin (pictured above) pushed me off of a two story flight of stairs. They were to an outside room above the garage so it was over 12 feet. I fell pretty hard on my face. Nothing was wrong with my physically, just a couple bruises. Zach said he was in time out for a while but I don't remember him getting into trouble. Well, I only really remember crying at the foot of the stairs.
My mom saw it happen. She said that she saw it in slow motion. My mom told me that she wanted to push my cousin off the balcony. She also said time stood still before I got up. She imagined the worst like a broken neck or being paralyzed.
They seem pretty similar. There is not much room for interpretation. I got pushed and fell. They are the same in the sense that we all know and say there was no permanent damage behind the fall.

Throwback

(My cousin Zach, Me, My brother Jason)

April. Were all grinning and happy,
Ready to spend the weekend
With our obnoxious, yet close family.

Your blonde shaggy hair,
My lack of hair and Jason's dark and thick mop.
We couldn't of looked cuter on
Our favorite lake in life vests.
In that moment in time, our relationship
could not have been stronger.

Years went on; friends, school, and
Sports separated that seemingly invincible bond.
We make attempts a few times a year but,
Why can't we just go back to how things
Were in the April of '92.

Drinking Age

The drinking age should definitely be switched back to 18. Soldiers can go fight and die, we can vote a president and other officials, go to jail, but can not drink legally? I think the police are wasting tax payers dollars by chasing down underage drinkers because it is easier to catch them then actually catch more predominant crimes. In other countries with lower drinking ages don't have any more crime rates then we do. I feel lik)e by the time that you're 18 you either know if you are going to be the type of person that is going to drink (responsibly hopefully) or not. Those extra 3 years do not really effect your judgement on the matter.

The careerists: "attend college as a means to an end: getting a job"

In this economy and day and age it is very rare a high school graduate is going to make enough money to ensure a comfortable lifestyle. I do not see anything wrong with only attending college to get a career, not a job. A career has the connotation of a long term and fulfilling employment. A job gives an impression of a temporary, un qualified position. I see nothing wrong with only going to college to make sure I get a career over a job. Not everyone has an academic mind, but it is important to push through it and have goals and dreams of supporting yourself and maybe even other close ones. The logical step to getting to that point is going to college first.

VCU Basketball Game

The game on Saturday just proved that VCU is superior to ODU. Talent wise, it seemed pretty evenly matched though because the score difference was rarely more than four points. It made the win seem even better since the score was so close. Now we are leading by 3 wins to ODU in basketball. It was really nice to see that even our 7ft tall players can still shoot threes and our point guard isn't afraid to take some shots. The last 10 minutes of the game was the most interesting though. They were back and forth in winning but what gave us the final win was our impeccable ability to have a whole team that can shoot threes and our defense was on point about rebounds.
